Privacy Policy

The short version
The Sortwell application is designed to run entirely on your own machine. It sends no telemetry and uploads none of your files. This policy also covers the marketing waitlist and optional paid-license device activation.
What this website collects
If you submit the waitlist form, we store your email address, optional phone number, platform preference, interested plan, consent time, and signup/update dates. The phone number is not used for SMS marketing without a separate express consent.
With your opt-in consent, this website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate page traffic and site performance. Analytics is disabled until you select Accept. We disable advertising storage, Google Signals, and ad-personalization signals. Google may process device, browser, approximate-location, page, and interaction data as our analytics processor. You can decline without losing site functionality, or clear the sortwell-analytics-consentpreference in your browser to be asked again. We do not use advertising pixels or marketing cookies. If you open a paid checkout, Paddle may use strictly necessary payment, fraud-prevention, and preference storage under its own privacy and cookie terms.
Paid-license activation
A paid deployment may use online activation to enforce the stated machine limit. Activation sends the signed license token and a one-way machine identifier. It does not send hardware details, file paths, filenames, file contents, search queries, or usage telemetry. Local file processing continues to happen on your device.
Payments
Paid checkout is provided by Paddle, our merchant-of-record payment processor. Paddle collects and processes payment, tax, billing, and fraud-prevention information under its own privacy terms. Sortwell receives transaction identifiers, purchased plan, customer email, and payment status; it does not receive complete card details.
Max model delivery
After Max activation and restart, the app sends the signed licence to our entitlement endpoint and downloads signed model packages from our configured distribution service. It sends no file names, paths, contents, search terms, or usage history. Downloads are resumable and each package is checked against signed metadata and a SHA-256 digest before installation.
How we use it
Your email is used to fulfil purchases and licence delivery, notify you when Sortwell is available to install, and send occasional, directly relevant product updates covered by your consent. We do not sell or rent your email. We share only the data needed by contracted payment, hosting, and message-delivery processors.
The Sortwell application
Sortwell processes your files locally using on-device AI models. A dedicated build check fails the release if the file-organization pipeline imports any networking module, and license validation is performed offline against an embedded public key. The app does not transmit your files, filenames, or their contents to us or anyone else.
Data retention and your choices
We keep your waitlist entry until launch, after which we remove addresses that have not converted to a download within a reasonable period. You can ask us to delete your entry at any time by emailing [email protected]. You may also request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Security
Waitlist entries are stored in a database we control, and access is limited to what is needed to operate the launch. No system is perfectly secure, but because we deliberately collect so little, the exposure is minimal by design.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions are welcome at [email protected].
